Definition for : Trend analysis

Financial analysis always takes into account trends over several years because its role is to look at the past to assess the present situation and to forecast the Future. It may also be applied to projected financial statements prepared by the company. The only way of analysing the trends is to look at performance over several years (usually three where the information is available).
